Client Casey Kreiter of the Denver Broncos and Don Muhlbach of the Detroit Lions will be the snappers for the AFC and NFC respectively in the Pro Bowl on Sunday, January 27, 2019.
For Kreiter, it is his first Pro Bowl and the first selection for a Broncos long snapper. Muhlbach will be making his second Pro Bowl appearance. Muhlbach first appeared in the Pro Bowl after the 2012 season.
As most of you now know by now, I am honored to be one of the founders of the Patrick Mannelly Long Snapper Award. Along with Chris Rubio and Patrick Mannelly himself, we look forward to making this new Award a signature event each December.

Phil Steele has just named the long snappers on his All American teams at the FBS and FCS levels.
For the FBS, LSU’s Blake Ferguson is the First Team snapper. Dan Godsil (Indiana), Wes Farnsworth (Nevada) and Geron Eartherly (Tulane) are the Second through Fourth Team snappers.
In addition, Steele has selected multiple snappers for each FBS All Conference team. The full list can be accessed here.
At the FCS level, Steele has also selected snappers for each of his four All American teams. Patrick Eby (Columbia) was First Team, followed by Chris Wilkerson (Stephen F. Austin), Steven Wethli (Youngstown State) and Jacob Bobenmoyer (Northern Colorado). The full list can be accessed here.
Welcome to 2019! The end of the NFL regular season usually brings a lot of snapping news, most of it happening off the field.
For example, there will be a couple of snappers signed to contracts for the 2019 season. Taybor Pepper (Giants) and Christian Kuntz (Jaguars) are two examples so far.
The end of the NFL season also brings with it the usual head coaching changes that also tend to impact special teams coaches. Typically, there are 6-8 changes involving special teams coaches and there is already an opening in Atlanta with Keith Armstrong fired.
In addition to developments at the NFL level, the next crop of snappers preparing for the NFL Draft will participate in all-star games and at least one snapper will attend the NFL Combine. Others will try to impress at the various privately run combines for draft eligible and free agent snappers.

Week Seventeen is complete and the regular season is over. For snappers, it was a relatively stable year, with the only changes resulting from injury and not due to performance.
Atlanta used three snappers, starting the season with Jeff Overbaugh before Josh Harris returned in Week Two. Harris was placed on injured reserve late in the year and replaced by Jon Condo in Week Fourteen.
Other changes occurred in Jacksonville, when Carson Tinker was placed on injured reserve after Week Five and replaced by Matt Overton. Rookie Trent Sieg replaced Andrew DePaola in Oakland after Week One. Kyle Nelson’s suspension led the Niners to add Colin Holba in Week Fourteen and Andrew East made his NFL debut in Week Fifteen after Nick Sundberg was placed on injured reserve.
Drew Scott worked out with Oakland this past week. Teams can start signing snappers for next year beginning today and Taybor Pepper has already signed with the Giants for the 2019 season.
Beau Brinkley of the Titans had the most tackles of any long snapper in punt coverage, finishing the year with five tackles, four of which were solo stops. Five tackles are the lowest total to lead all snappers since I have been tracking tackles since the 2000 season.

Caleb Perez of UCF, who originally planned to snap in the Shrine Game on January 19, 2019, is unable to participate and will be replaced by Jacob Bobenmoyer of Northern Colorado.
The Shrine Game will be played on the same day as the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and both all-star games will be followed by the Senior Bowl on January 26, 2019.
Last evening, junior Blake Ferguson of LSU was named the inaugural winner of the David Binn Award given to the best college long snapper. Ferguson was one of five finalists named on December 9th. Ferguson was the only underclassman on the list.
Week Sixteen of the NFL season is complete and just one week of the regular season remains. This week was relatively quiet, as Don Muhlbach was able to snap despite being questionable during the week.
The Lions worked out snappers in the event Muhlbach could not snap, including Justin Drescher, Taylor Pepper and Zach Triner. Triner also worked out for Tampa Bay.
Four snappers recorded tackles in punt coverage as Aaron Brewer (Cardinals), Morgan Cox (Ravens), James Winchester (Chiefs) and Zak DeOssie (Giants) each had solo tackles. Winchester also forced a fumble on his tackle.

The STATS FCS All-America Team was just announced and also includes three long snappers.
Patrick Eby of Columbia was First Team, Steven Wethli of Youngstown State was Second Team and Patrick Keefe from The Citadel was Third Team. All are seniors and only Wethli also appeared on the HERO Sports FCA All-American team as the First Team snapper.
HERO Sports just released its All-American teams for the FCS level and all three teams included long snappers.
Senior Steven Wethli of Youngstown State was the First Team Special Teams snapper. Junior Josh Brady of Jacksonville State was Second Team and Sophomore Bradey Sorenson of South Dakota State was Third Team.
