2024 FBS Long Snappers

The 2024 college football season is underway so let’s take a look at Longsnap.com’s exclusive compilation of the long snapper for each FBS team.

As usual, the list is sorted by conference and includes the snapper’s uniform number, height, weight and class year.

Note that some teams still do not publish an official depth chart, while others listed two snappers or divide the punt and placement snaps between two players. Where that is the case, the chart includes the punt snapper that was listed first on the depth chart for the first game of the season.

NFL Long Snappers for the 2024 NFL Season

After final roster cuts, the snapping picture for each NFL club is a bit more clear. Although there may be changes prior to kickoff next week, it looks like there will be two new snappers. Rookie Hogan Hatten won the Lions job and first-year snapper Evan Deckers will snap for the Buccaneers.

Rookies Peter Bowden (Packers) and Joe Shimko (Cardinals) were each waived in the last few weeks. Tucker Addington (Patriots), Rex Sunahara (Browns) and Cameron Lyons (Bears) were late cuts as teams got down to the 53 players. Veterans Scott Daly (Lions) and Zach Triner (Buccaneers) also were released.

Sunahara was later added to the Browns practice squad and Daly to the Bears practice squad. Daly will likely be activated for the first part of the season while client Patrick Scales recovers from injury.

Blake Ferguson of the Dolphins was technically released, but that was a procedural move to create roster space and he will snap in Miami for another season.

Longsnap.com updates will resume every Tuesday of the NFL season, including the weekly NFL Long Snapper Chart featuring snapper tackles and other statistics in punt coverage.

Snapping Update After Pre-Season Week One

The first week of the NFL pre-season is complete with some significant activity at the snapping position.

Two snappers were waived and quickly re-signed. Rookie Peter Bowden (Packers) and first-year snapper Cam Lyons (Bears) were each let go by their teams and quickly returned. Bowden was let go at first for roster space and Lyons returned while client Pat Scales recovers from an injury. Both snappers remain with their teams and snapped this weekend.

Injuries to veterans Charley Hughlett (Browns) and Joe Cardona (Patriots) led each to team to workout a group of snappers and sign one weekend action. The Browns added Rex Sunahara after working out Matt Overton and Antonio Ortiz. The Patriots signed Tucker Addington, who snapped some games in New England last season after also trying out Bradey Sorenson and Alex Matheson.

One snapper, rookie Randen Plattner (Ravens), has been waived since the first pre-season game and the Steelers worked out Jake McQuade along with Matheson and Ortiz yesterday. Neither has been signed as of yet.

Veteran snapper Carson Tinker, who had a 10-year NFL career, announced his retirement from the NFL last night on Twitter. Congrats to Carson on an amazing career!
