There was more change at the snapping position this week. Veteran Matt Overton returned to the NFL with the Dolphins, replacing Blake Ferguson was who placed on injured reserve with a non-football injury. Overton last snapped in an NFL regular season game for the Cowboys in 2022. Overton had a tryout before his signing that also included Peter Bowden, Cam Lyons and Joe Shimko.
Ferguson is now the fourth snapper on injured reserve, joining client Patrick Scales (Bears), Evan Deckers (Buccaneers) and Charley Hughlett (Browns).
The Bears added veteran snapper Jake McQuaide to the practice squad in case Scott Daly cannot snap this coming week. The Packers also released Matt Orzech yesterday but that appears to be a procedural move for roster space and he should be re-signed.
In game action, Joe Cardona returned for the Patriots after missing Week Six. JJ Jansen of the Panthers became the 59th player in NFL history to play in 250 games this Sunday.
Five snappers recorded tackles in punt coverage this week. Morgan Cox (Titans), Reid Ferguson (Bills), Rex Sunahara (Browns), Matt Orzech (Packers) and Jacob Bobenmoyer (Raiders) each had a solo tackle.
