This afternoon is the deadline for NFL teams to get rosters to 53 players and the final cut always impacts long snappers. While changes are still possible over the next few days, it is likely that the long snapping position is set for Week One.
Prior to final cuts, the Patriots waived Tucker Addington and the Broncos waived the recently-signed Jack Landherr. Addington was later added to the Jaguars roster after a workout that also included veterans Jake McQuaide and Matt Overton.
Snappers waived at the final cut deadline today were Broughton Hatcher (Packers), Tucker Addington (Jaguars), Cam Lyons (Giants) and Evan Deckers (Buccaneers).
Two undrafted rookie snappers will make their NFL debuts this season. Alex Ward will snap for the Rams and Chris Stoll for the Seahawks. Stoll was the Patrick Mannelly Award winner this year and Ward was a finalist the past two seasons.
Some other veteran snappers were released today but those are procedural moves to create temporary roster space. Those snappers include Trent Sieg (Cowboys) and Matt Orzech (Packers). Both will be re-signed in the next few days.
